Tarot Monthly Review: A Deep Reading Ritual for the Last Day of Every Month
Published: 2026-03-20 | Tarot Knowledge Series | ⏱ About 4 min read | 🌿 Intermediate
On the last day of every month, use tarot for a deep monthly review—integrating that month's experiences, extracting wisdom, clearing unfinished energy, and setting a more conscious direction for the new month.
Monthly Review: Making Every Month a Conscious Journey of Growth
A month is a more meaningful unit of time than a week—a month is long enough for an intention to move from seed to harvest, and for a challenge to move from confronting to (at least partially) resolving. But without deliberate reflection, months pass one after another without you truly integrating the growth those experiences bring. The tarot monthly review is a tool for making every month a conscious journey of growth. Combined with new moon intention-setting, it forms a complete monthly cycle: set intentions at the start of the month, review and integrate at the end.
Monthly Review Tarot Spread (6 Cards)
On the last day of each month, find a quiet time and do this spread:
**Card 1: What was the most important theme or energy of this month?** (Let tarot name the core of this month); **Card 2: What was my greatest growth or breakthrough this month?**; **Card 3: What was the most important challenge of this month, and what did it bring me?**; **Card 4: What is the unfinished lesson from this month that carries into next month?**; **Card 5: What from this month am I most grateful for and ready to release?**; **Card 6: What is the preview energy for next month?**
After the spread, spend 5 minutes integrating the insights from all 6 cards into a short paragraph: "This month, I... (growth). I learned... (wisdom). I released... (clearing). Next month, I carry... (intention) forward."
A 12-Month Tarot Annual Atlas
If you do monthly reviews for 12 consecutive months, you'll build a complete annual tarot atlas—recording the theme card, growth, challenges, and releases of each month. At year's end, lay out all 12 months together and look: what is the overall theme of your year? In which areas did you consistently grow? Was there any lesson that ran through the entire year?
This annual atlas is your most personal tarot revelation—more accurate than any astrological forecast or generic reading, because it comes from the real lived experiences and reflections of your life. And it will keep accumulating, becoming one of the most treasured sources of wisdom in your life.
